Welcome to The Jade Forest!
The Jade Forest invites you to continue our tea journey together for another amazing tea session. In celebration of Spring Rising Red Lotus recently went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and brought back a bit of inspiration for the table. The orchids there are in full bloom, so he’s bringing them to you, in the form of Dan Cong Oolong tea!
Only from the beautiful Phoenix Mountains of Guangdong, China will you find the intensely complex Dan Cong Oolong teas and its many varietals. Teas in this style are renowned for their fruity, floral, tannic and super aromatic qualities specific to Phoenix Dan Cong. You’ll find that the flavors coat the mouth and throat and transform back and forth from bitter to sweet. The aroma is extremely intoxicating and the after taste will linger on the pallet far after your cup is empty.
On the table for this session is a popular name in the Dan Cong Oolong category, Mi Lan Xiang or “ Honey Orchid Fragrance”. Rising Red Lotus has selected three Spring harvested varietals of this wonderful tea, hence, The Three Orchids. The first, “Qing Xiang Mi Lan Xiang”, this style has been lightly roasted and maintains a greener touch. The second, “Feng Huang Mi Lan Xiang”, has been roasted four times and displays a deeper flavor. The third comes from the 200 year old tea trees of Wu Dong village, “Wu Dong Mi Lan Xiang”, giving this tea a depth of minerality not found in tea harvested from younger tea trees.
Tasting notes across the selection:
Honey, citrus peel, cocoa nibs, orchid, shortbread, apricot, vegetal, pine
