Welcome To The Jade Forest!
The Jade Forest invites you to continue our tea journey together for another amazing tea session. It’s been while since our last session so to heat the cups up again, we’re going to do something a bit different. So far, most of our sessions have showcased multiple teas, providing an expansive tasting. This is great of course, but each tea has a detailed story that is difficult to tell in the tasting format, moving from tea to tea. So this time our focus will be on one special tea, and we’ll take time to learn it and see what it has to say.
The selected tea for this session will be an aged Ju Duo Zai Dan Cong oolong tea from Yunnan Sourcing. This is a Ju Duo Zai Dan Cong (same as the Xing Ren varietal) that was harvested in Spring 2009. It's been stored, sealed, and re-roasted twice (once in 2011 and again in 2016). The aging and intermittent roasting of this tea has given it an incredibly unique character. It's fruity, with some cannabis notes and a long lasting sweet after-taste. There is no mustiness nor is the taste of recent roasting found in this tea, instead we find some silkiness and spice in a viscous envelope that dances its way through your mouth and throat.
